My father-in-law sent me an email last weekend, it read…
Hello
Just a friendly reminder that this is the last day to update the family blog. Also to remind you that you have a birthday very soon!
Have a good day. Your favorite father-in-law.
You gotta love the in-laws. Thanks for the reminder Pop!
I did say I would update mid-February and it is March 4th so there are probably some of you who are tired of looking at the same old pictures…
If it is possible, the CO Manns seem to have entered an even busier stage of life. Since I last updated the Mann Family blog Michael and I enjoyed a weekend in Paris (he had to go over to France and the UK for work in January so I met up with him over the weekend), Jaydn has turned 6 and is practicing for her first dance recital coming up April 5th. She is also attending a rehearsal every Wednesday night in preparation to perform in her first Church musical in May. She is loving the performance aspect of the arts. Michael finished his first and second classes towards his masters in BA, he has this week off and will begin class #3 on Monday. And, believe it or not, I have accepted yet another job. Apparently the role of Wife, Mother and Music Teacher were not filling my time enough, I am now also the Children’s Coordinator at Origins Church. It’s keeping me on my toes but what a rewarding month this has been to see the kids church bloom and grow on Sunday evenings. Origins Church is the new name of the churches we merged together last July (Roots Church and Origins Community has become “Origins Church: A community rooted in God and growing in Love)”
I am actually really enjoying this season of life as I am remembering how I seem to function best when thrown in the midst of chaos.
I must share a little about the great ROCKSTAR DANCE PARTY we through for Jaydn’s 6th birthday. We packed a room full of kids and prepared them for all the wedding receptions they would attend as adults by teaching them the Chicken Dance, YMCA, Limbo Rock, and many other dance party classics. It was a blast. We were very proud of our little Jaydn this year as she came out of the climax of the Christmas holiday with an even bigger heart. I believe her words were “wow, we got so many toys for Christmas maybe we should give money to those kids who don’t have clean water instead of getting more presents for my birthday.” So, we did just that…for her birthday we asked for donations instead of toys and Jaydn raised $500 that will be donated to Healing Waters International. We want to send out another thank you to friends and family who helped her reach her goal. If your curious, check out the website and make a contribution…it’s a great organization based just outside of Boulder…www.healingwatersintl.org.
Colton is growing up too. He is loving preschool. Each year the preschool has Lutheran Schools week…this is a week that the kids get to dress according to a theme and are served a hot lunch from the kitchen. Monday he got to attend school dressed as Superman and today he went with crazy rock-star hair. Colton still spends all his time playing with his “Cars” cars and Lightening McQueen and Hudson Hornet (racecar Doc) are his favorite characters for now. Colton also still loves sports of any kind. He completed another four week of Sports Sampler, this time at the South Boulder Rec Center, and he enjoyed every minute of it. I guess we’ll have to start looking into soccer-tots or mini-hoopers soon.
We have experienced unusually warm weather this winter here in Colorado. It is over 70 degrees today, March 2. As much as I’m enjoying not being cooped up near as much this winter I can’t help but anticipate a hot and very dry summer. Oh well, why worry about tomorrow when you can enjoy today right. In these difficult times, as we see friends losing jobs, facing illnesses and struggling through the day to day trials, we are constantly reminded of those same words Jesus blesses us with in the book of Matthew…
“…do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
And in Jeremiah 29:11 we can be encouraged and confident that the Lord loves us and has plans to prosper us….
”For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
We pray that you can live in the present, hopeful of God’s promises
In His Love,
The Mann Fam (Michael, Lisa, Jaydn & Colton)
Thanks for the update! It's so good to be able to keep up a bit with the happenings of your lives. That is just awesome about Jadyn wanting to donate money instead of getting presents! Beautiful! We were in Oregon over her birthday, so sorry we didn't get a card to her. Sounds like the party was a blast! Paris looked pretty awesome, as well. I'm glad to hear things are going well. Carolyn is about to start soccer-her first organized activity other than Music Playhouse! She's very excited and I think she'll be very good at it. I'll check back soon! Tell the family hello from all the Hanscom's! Love and miss you all!
